1990 Geo Metro Xfi MAP sensor
I have a Geo Metro Xfi, 1990 vintage. It USED to get 50+ mpg on my daily 62 mile commute. The other day, my CHECK ENGINE light came on, and I took the Geo to a local (very talented) mechanic. He told me the MAP sensor coded, so we ordered a new/used one for $40.00.

Since this very efficient vehicle is getting old, parts are very hard to find. Can I use another manufacturer's MAP sensor? It seems to be a three-wire voltage controlled type.

What else can I do to improve mileage?

Thanks, Jim in Oregon

Hi Jim.
Sorry, I can't comment on what other MAP sensors may work. As to your other question regarding mileage you should check http://www.metrompg.com for a ton of ideas.

What have you tried so far?

Rick
