2002 Dodge Ram O2 Sensor Video
Just thought I would post this for those that want to see what is reported from an O2 Sensor to my digital meter.

My truck is a 2002 Dodge Ram 4.7L Engine. I have a NARROWBAND O2 sensor before the Cat. Convertor and a NARROWBAND O2 sensor after the Cat. Convertor. The only O2 Sensor of importance is the O2 Sensor before the Cat. Convertor. On my truck both O2 sensors have 1 blue wire, 1 white wire, and 2 black wires. The blue wire is the signal wire to the computer.

Please take a look at the video so that you can visually see how the sensor reacts. What you see is a stock O2 sensor with NO EFIE unit installed yet. The video is with the truck running and after the O2 sensor has warmed up. It is very important that the O2 sensor is in the hot stream of exhaust in order to report correctly to the computer.

The 02 4.7L Ram's had a diffrant ecm I'm pretty sure than the rest of the 3rd gen ecm's. Like mid 03 they got a new ecm.

So your voltage never get's to like 2.5-3.5?

I did not road test it to see it climb any higher. Those readings were at idle with the engine having run for 20 minutes...

Odd's are then that your on the older style ecm from dodge so you will not see the 2.5v+. The 3rd Gen 5.9l (360) is in the same boat. Both have the older ecm from the 2nd gen's The newer style went into effect when the 03 Hemi's came out in the 2500's and then later the 1500's. Then in 06 when MDS hit the Ram then got a new can bus.

I hope so... I have a DEFIE on its way... Received my dry cell and res and bub tanks. Waiting for solenoid and trying to locate a PWM by Zero...

Faulty o2 sensor can also cause poor gas mileage, emission test failure and various driveability problems. I had an issue before about the distributor about of dodge ram and I have no choice but to spending some bucks just to make it better off. Good thing there is this auto part shop in Carson CA where I used to spend my time with for consultation about the o2 sensor. Just sharing a thought. By the way I'm new. Might as well share some knowledge.
