Acetone mix works
I just got back from a weekend trip with the family. We took up my wifes 2000 Pontiac Montana and filled up before we left drove 300+ miles checked the milage it was at 24.3.

We drove back same way and filled up at the same station and with a mix of 4oz of 100% acetone, 4oz of xylene and 1 oz of synthetic oil we got 26.1

Not bad for just adding something to the fuel

I was wondering how good a deal that was. With Acetone and Xylene going for @ $16.00gal. and synthetic oil (haven't heard about that one yet) not exactly cheep. What do you figure your NET savings is?
Doesn't sound like a whole lot.

you will get better results if you cut the acetone to 3oz/gal anything above or below the gain will drop.

ptours99,
The gas tank holds 20 gals, so 3oz. I think it would be not enough, also what Ive read is 3oz. per 10 gallons

Well....first unless your getting your Ace/Xyl & Syn oil for free you can't consider the whole $.50/gal. profit. Some of these concoctions are over $1.00 a gal. themselves. I'll bet yours is probably costing you close to half that $.50. Not knocking Hanks success, if he actually saving money I'm all for it. I just think you need to know what NET savings is not your Gross. My Acetone is running $16 a gal. and some of the oils $24 or more.

sorry about that post 3oz/10 gal. as far as the oil mobil 1 syn 2cyl$ 9.00 ,torco gp7 is 9.75 qt.if you use this combo[acetone and oil add] it takes about a month or so for it to work out the carbon.when used on a car w/ecm it's recommended to add every other fill up so the ecm won't adjust the fuel ratio. the result is cleaner combustion ,and upper cyl lubricity.

RE: Acetone mix works
Used to use Acetone in my Rabbit diesel and other than a very slight reduction of smoke under HARD acceleration I saw no difference. Engine had good compression and I had advanced the injection pump slightly (hence the tiny bit of smoke at WOT, and only under HEAVY load).

Just my 3 cents...not saying it won't work for others, just didn't pan out for me. Perhaps Kalifornication's low sulfur fuel was the Ubangi in my fuel supply.

...same thing we do every night Pinky, plan to take over the world!
