Coffee filters make water last longer
Hey guys, I know everybody is frustrated with the gunk that will inevitably build up in your cell over time. and rather then wasting money buying tons of gallons of distilled water, I bought some coffee filters for 1.99 (for like 300...) and a basic strainer to filter out the gunk and then just throw it away in the trash leaving me with cleaner water... all of the gunk is gone, but the water still has a yellow tint (probably due to the sodium hydroxide.)

Anyways, just a suggestion for others to try... but if anyone does try this, it filters REALLY slow, so don't do it if your in a hurry. maybe try and find the crappyist filters you can, or if anyone knows a faster filtering device that is cheap and throw-away-able let me know!

I would think the yellow is from rust.

You could try pre-filtering thru paint filters or panty hose to get the thick stuff out, then do the coffee filter.
