How much current were you running with your cell?

What are the current symptoms that suggest your alternator is bad?

...add to that how many amps your vehicle was pulling, how many amp alternator it is, and you may find that you've gone beyond the 80% load limit we like for safety. You wouldn't be the first to fry one, but it also could have been a bad one. First determine wether the battery is good or not, then see if you have charging going on.

Can you elaborate on the "80% load limit we like for safety". How do I test for that and what do I need to test. Thank you,

Chicago, it's hard to test for that without having special tools.

Gary's suggesting, if you have a 100 amp alternator, you shouldn't be exceeding a total of 80 amps on a regular basis.

Again, how many amps was your cell using? Anything else you installed like a 1000 watt stereo amp? Wink

yeah, our little Paseo won't even power my truck amps and headlights; let alone add engine, heater fan, AC, HHO...it's 70 amps capacity with about 52amps of lights and stereo, plus 12 amps of HHO...I expect it to die at any time, but I've been lucky.

Also, it's possible with a new alternator (and belt?) that the belt might be slipping, reducing the output.

Any time you have problems with a modified engine, you should disable the mods and see if it works without. In this case, turning off your cell (and efie, if installed) and try that for a few days.
