Design experiment to determine best AFR
Please help to design an experiment to scientifically work out the most economical AFR

Background:
I can control the AFR either in closed loop using the wideband lc-1 controller or in Open loop with my MAF board and O2 unplugged. In this case I will use the LC-1 so that I can measure the MAF.

Aim:
find the best AFR for economy

Observation:
1) If I lean too much then I lose power and need more throttle so I use more fuel.
2) If I richen the mixture well you still use more fuel.

Method:
1) Program the lc-1 to set a fixed AFR 14.5, 15, 15.5, 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18
2) Measure the MAF frequency over a set route at 1 second intervals.
Maf = Amount of airflow which takes into account load and throttle position.
3) Add all MAF values together and divide by Total Time (secs) to get an average MAF reading for the journey
4) Calculate Fuel Used for Trip = MAF ave / AFR
5) Change AFR and redo the trip

Are you using HHO? Or any other fuel combustion enhancement?

Yes with HHO, but could also do the test without HHO just to compare

Well, the point is that the AFRs will be different with and without HHO. Also the they will be different depending on how much HHO you use. Finally, the best mileage at a particular AFR will vary between different manufacturers, as they all have their own quirks in the way they program their computers.

I don't want to rain on your parade. Any testing along this line will be valuable. But there are quite a few variables that make it hard to get precise and duplicatable result.

I understand that the results will be specific to my vehicle, the ambient temperature, the amount of amps I am drawing and the amount of hho I am producing...
