Yes, it does. Get the solid. The liquid will have other substances in it that won't be good for your booster.

Yes, Ace will have it in pellet form.

RE: Liquid or solid Sodium Hydroxide?
I just got some solid drain cleaner from walmart. THe ingredients say it has Sodium hydroxide and sodium nitrate. I'm planning on using it as a temporary electrolyte until my Potassium hydroxide arrives in the mail.

Soes anyone know if sodium nitrate is bad for my SS plates?

You should be able to get pure NaOH. I would not use drain cleaner. I bought a gallon of NaOH that is used for as a cleaner from Home Hardware. It is solid and as far as I can tell there is nothing else in it. 1/2 teaspoon per liter distilled water gave me a 30 amp draw. It ran real cool. Did not get hot; just warm to the touch. I just got 300 ml/min from my system, but it has some leaks which I have repaired and will test again tomorrow after it has had time to cure. I have just built this so I need to "get all the bugs out".

I don't know what that sodium nitrate would do to the plates, but if I were you I would not want to introduce anything foreign to those plates (something that could potentially harm them by reducing their efficiency abilities). Pure NaOH can be found at more hardware stores.

Hmm never heard of Atwoods, but check int the plumbing isle and it will be in a plastic bottle with a screw off cap. Just make sure it says 100% NaOH, Sodium hydroxide, or Caustic soda.
