MAF Sensor
I have a 2000 ford F150 4.2L V6
I need to know what the 4 wires on the MAF Sensor are.
1. Red = POWER ?
2. Black = Ground ?
3. Blue = Sensor
4. Yellow = ecu ?

The above is only my GUESS does anyone know for SURE ?

CALL YOU CONGRESS MEN AND OR LOCAL LEGISLATOR AND TELL THEM TO REMOVE ETHANOL FROM ARE FUEL. TELL THEM FOOD ON THE TABLES OF AMERICANS IS MORE IMPORTANT AND KILL THE ETHANOL FROM CORN DEAL. ETHANOL FROM CORN CAUSES EVERYONE TO PAY MORE FOR FOOD.

RE: MAF Sensor
Hi Joe.
You could check my Toyota Sensors link. The first post (Autoshop) has info on a bunch of sensor types. You want the link for "air flow sensors". There should be info on the various types and I bet you'll find yours there.

... or you could email Bruce at the address here for wire colors: http://www.fuel-saver.org/showthread.php?tid=2065 That might take a day or two.

Rick

RE: MAF Sensor
ok, I figured out the wiring from help from other people, now my question is this, I have a MAP sensor enhancer, however I have a MAF sensor on my truck. so can I use the MAP sensor enhancer on the MAF they are for the most part the same and do the same thing right?

RE: MAF Sensor
From what I understand, you can use the MAP sensor enhancer with a MAF as long as your MAF uses voltage as the signal source to the vehicle's computer and not a frequency signal.

ok we know the wiring set up now, but I have another question, does the MAF on a 2000 ford f-150 4.2L v6
use voltage as the signal source to the vehicle's computer or does it use a frequency signal ?

RE: MAF Sensor
ok i was looking around and found this but I would still like someone to be sure im reading this right.

Mass Air Flow Sensor

The mass air flow (MAF) sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. Air passing over the hot wire causes it to cool. This hot wire is maintained at 200ºC (392ºF) above ambient temperature as measured by a constant cold wire (Figure 35). If the hot wire electronic sensing element must be replaced, then the entire assembly must be replaced. Replacing only the element may change the air flow calibration.
The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is proportional to the air mass flow. The MAF sensor then outputs an analog voltage signal to the PCM proportional to the intake air mass. The PCM calculates the required fuel injector pulse width in order to provide the desired air/fuel ratio (Figure 36). This input is also used in determining transmission electronic pressure control (EPC), shift and torque converter clutch scheduling.

Some MAF sensors have integrated bypass technology (IBT) with an integrated intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. The present applications with IBT are: Focus, Escort (4V), 2.0L Contour/Mystique, Cougar, Taurus/Sable, Windstar, Explorer/Mountaineer and E-Series.

so if i am reading this right is uses voltage?
