Can anyone tell me the best way to read HHO output from a dry cell?

The best way is to calculate what it should be. For example if you have a 11 plate dry cell: -NNNN+NNNN- and running at least 10% KOH with distillate H2O at 12 volts you should be drawing about 10-15 amps.

Knowing the Amps and the number of cells you can calculate exactly what you will produce. The above confirguration has 10 cells so at 10 amps you will get: 10cells X 10amps X 0.6273Resistence = 62.73 lph
divide 62.73 lph by 60 minutes will give you about 1 lpm.

Now to test the quality of your HHO output, connect a balloon to the output hose and let it fill the balloon and tie it off. Drop it and if it hits the floor you got water vapour in it but if it flies, you gots pure OxyHydrogen. This is some of the things I learned about HHO from
