Scottish scientists convert whiskey waste into biofuel
Cnet.com has come to us with information about scientists at Edinburgh Napier University's biofuel Research Center. Evidently these scientists in Scotland can now make butanol biofuel with simple Scotch whisky by-products. Thirty percent more energy is received with the waste Butanol than Butanol would vie when made from ethanol, reports an MIT Technology review. That means more efficient burning and the potential for increased miles per gallon. Butanol is better than ethanol in efficiency. There is a 25 percent difference, says Sky News. New whisky based biofuel has lees limitations than ethanol does

Butanol isn't limited like ethanol is. Butanol doesn't have to mix with regular gas as ethanol does. Butanol is already a major part of gas. Technology Review reports that butanol doesn't absorb water making it great for going through pipelines which isn't like ethanol.

Anyone who's a fan of corn

Tax credits, favorable tariffs and government subsidies are all available to U.S. corn growers. This is because of the Renewable Fuel Standard. The Bastiat Institute indicates that the ethanol industry also has the ear of Congress, as its Fueling Freedom Plan calls for higher ethanol mix caps and more costly engines to accommodate the new mix. Taxpayers are going to end up paying all of this.

Bastiat also thinks that since taxpayers have been giving so much to pay for ethanol fuel research, the ethanol lobby needs to back off of the government. Using ethanol in lower percentages (10 percent or less) would boost octane, but it may be more prudent to explore the possibility of whiskey-based butanol if a more efficient fuel is truly desired. Butanol research would be preferred by some. Numerous would rather do that with their tax dollars.

Whiskey is also one form of alcohol which can be used in fuels in some amount.

Now all we need is plenty of whiskey production, so everybody drink up! You must also be willing to have a car that goes down the road a little sideways and may go to sleep at odd times.
