Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide Which?
I have heard both terms being used but which one is the prferred one to be using for HHO systems? The industry needs some ground rules that adhere to everyone building systems please. Let us know so we can make adjustments. This may be the problem with my system since I.m using Sodium Hydroxide.and making no HHO at this point.

Potassium Hydrox has three times as much conductivity as sodium Hydrox.
So it would depend on your specific current/heat needs?

I have a hard time believing it's that much better, but I don't know for sure. Bob Boyce has said that KOH is slightly more stable than NaOH, but it doesn't matter. They both work well. NaOH is much more readily available locally.

Yeah, they are actually almost identical in conductivity. I was misreading the conductivity chart I found and did not notice that the measurements were at different concentrations... I just assumed they were identical test conditions without scrutiny...

I use KOH myself and am very satisfied with the results, after 500mile the water is still crystal clear. Never used NaOH personally so cant comment on it.

I use KOH, and I have to be very careful with it and I actually have to count out the flakes and pick certain sizes or the amps will go through the roof as well as the temp.

I used NaOH in mine and it works way better than Baking Soda IMO. I used Red Devil Lye brand. They don't sell it anymore where I live, California, but I had some left over from when I was experimenting with making biodiesel.

They sell pure NaOH at Tractor supply for $8 for 2 lbs. Its the crystal form and clearly says 100% Sodium Hydroxide (caustic soda)
