Yeppers. Re read it again, and caught that, sorry for the jump in the question. Its just i read it, then, studied the picture and scratched my head, lol.
Thanks. Is that picture the unit your building? Im gonna build one, not out of trying to get something better, but just cuz it looks cool! lol
Take care.

RE: The TERO SERIES CELL PLANS
I've been using the cell for a while now and still testing to see if the larger version(mine is twice as big as the one shown) I built is going to work out. Will post the results as I get them.

Thanks to the OP for the pdf reference. I have been looking for those formulas for a while now. Wink

RE: The TERO SERIES CELL PLANS
I built one.

The plates are exactly the sizes as the PDF described. It starts 5 amps cold (10% by weight of NaOH) and as the temp raises , amps reaches 15 and becomes stable. My guess is as the cell inside the hood , the temp will raise faster, and amps as well.Maybe 20 tops.I dont know.
The only difference is that my water reservoir is on feeding the cell completely, and the water level holes are smaller.
The cell is producing 1LPM @ 10.0A.I´ve tried to increase efficiency of the cell adding 2 more plates (its on other thread), but amps stuck at 0.1A.No clue what happened.

Cheers from Brazil.

Try running 7 plates instead of 8 and increase your electrolyte ratio also, the guy that sells these cells shows 8 plates on the plans ,but on his forum says to run 7(go figure)dont know if its a typo on his plans or a later change he made.Per the plans it should run about 20 to 22 amps and produce 2 lpm..Let us know of your results.

In theory 8 plates (I assume you mean 7 cells) can work, but it's just not practical.

RE: The TERO SERIES CELL PLANS
Lets put some heads together, if people were to buy plates for this cell, what size would you want. Hygear, I know you said that laser cutting is not necessary, but wouldn't it be nice to have plates cut with the tabs and holes in place? I may be able to supply spacer gaskets also with holes that will line up absolutely perfectly. And for Gary, Plexiglas or I should say acrylic is an excellent electrical current barrier. If it wasn't it would not be between me and 50000v DC on every machine in my shop. Polycarbonate will carry current as the concentration of carbon in the material can allow for really high voltages to pass through it. Does take a lot, but it will carry current.

I'll model it all out and show you guys. But first need some input on how big you all want it. And that has to be an agreed upon size. The pdf puts it at 6.3” x 7.875” but even there as Hygear suggested, I would make that larger, and instead of welding the connection tabs, they would be already a part of the plates. I would need to standardize the design for cutting in regards to size an holes. Other wise it becomes a custom project and cost goes up.

Give me some sounding advise, this way I can make it happen and get a price up. Modeling the design is easy.

RE: The TERO SERIES CELL PLANS
i appreciate ya cutter, but here's what I got: Voltage off the plexi spacers, increasing as I moved towards the other hot plate. This stuff carries current in 14 volts at 3 amps. I also got voltage off of the shower base material, which is weird, since some guys made dry cells that worked with it. Possibly theirs came from a different manufacturer though.

I've wondered what an 8x8 plate arrangement would do, how many amps it would draw. I think larger would be too cumbersome, but I'd run it if it worked. Also, you'll need some little plate spacers to eliminate flexing in the centers. I vote for 8x8 plates with a 1/4" wide gasket around the periphery at about a 3/16" thickness. Vinyl gasket sheet comes to mind. Neoprene I saw on the US Plastics chart as not being too compatible with chemicals, so that's one to avoid.
If everyone decides on a design, I'll just need the gaskets myself, since I have a lot of material for everything else.

RE: The TERO SERIES CELL PLANS
Before you guys build a larger version than pdf plans, you might want to rethink that. When first saw the design plan the first thing that came to mind was bigger must be better.I'm starting to believe what one of the members of that forum said where I got the plans after he read my thread of the larger than plan cell. That most people that want more gas production(and lower amp draw) stay with original plan and run two or more in series that it was more efficent.I built the extra large cell anyway just to see because I figured if it didnt work out I'd simply cut the plates to make two.The large size only puts out 2 lpm running 8 plates at 17 amps and 4.3 lpm runnning 7, but drawing over 30 amps.My real mileage tests have been in the last week or so after final completion of mods.I found no mentional difference running the cell either way.I'm starting to think the guy that said smaller in series was better was right.I think my alternator drag is canceling out my higher gas output. These are only my results, yours or someone elses may differ.
And btw Cutter, the sheet metal co. where I buy my plates cuts them with a tab on them and even drilled the 1/4" hole for electrical connections for me.I didnt like the idea of welded tabs myself. Thanks anyway for the thought.
