Question Vane 5 wire MAF
Hi people,

On my BMW 316i 1993 I have a 5 wire vane type maf sensor no map.

I have read in various places that you can either use a map enhancer on a maf ie. variable pot and others say you must use an efie backwards.

I have tried using a map enhancer and it does change the way the car behaves quite a bit, but I have very limited range on the dial.

In changing the pot values up and down whilst monitoring my O2 sensor output, the O2 sensor jumps to 1 volt when I add more resistance telling me that we are rich, this is the opposite of what we want.

Any comments are greatly appriciated.

I think you're going the right way. I haven't installed a sensor messer upper on my truck yet, but I'm pretty sure you want the engine to think it's running rich, that way it spurts less fuel.

As far as limited knob range, swap the resistor with a pot, and adjust it until you have a wide range. You should have two (2) pots on each setting (city/hwy).
