guys,here is someone who owns a 1981 olds that gets 70mpg city driving. make sure to scroll down to where it says "inventions" and check out all the links....read it all till u understand what he did.

If he can do it and get 70mpg why don't we all do the same?

(please don't post till you've read enough info on his project!)

This is not at all impossible. It is a carb with no computer. Therefore the leaning capacity is great. And as the article said, with that high mileage, it does lack power.
