looking for MAF ground, Freestyle
Hi everyone,

I have a Ford Freestyle SEL AWD 2005 with 6 wire MAF sensor. Can I use a resistor on ground wire on this type of MAF sensor? I've buy the electric plan on automotive hobbyists but I dont know wich wire is the ground. Please see the attachment for the wiring of MAF sensor. Any recommendation other than tuning for mileage document?

RE: looking for MAF ground, Freestyle
Black is always "ground ". Before you start playing with a $300.00 MAF sensor you need to know a lot more about how they work. Buy a shop manual; get a subscription to "alldatadiy.com"; read the diagnostic charts and the corresponding voltages. Buy yourself a cheap multimeter; turn it on to DC volts, low range: 0 to 18 volts; or "mv" and probe the voltage change. Here's how: connect one of the multimeter probes to a ground; connect the other probe to each different wire. One will be 12v all the time; the voltage in another one will go up and down as the speed of the engine increases or decreases. Usually this is where you hook into with the MAF potentiometer.
