rust and eching of plates
We pulled my buddies cell out(after it quit working) with a month of running and found that 3 out of the 9 switch plates were paper thin.
Before that he had lots of rust and sediment as well.

Who do you stop this from happening?
He was running pot. hydroxide for the electrolete and distilled water
With a month of running doesnt seem very good for the future of running this full time.

What charge config. were the plates in and what charge where those 3 plates?
I.E. did it go -n+n-n+n- and have the three - plates torched?

KOH should not have that effect. Sounds to me like he was drawing way to many amps. That will drastically shorten the life of those plates.

Here are some pics of rust after maybe 900 miles operation:

Never run over 6 amps or so...but using some old Crystal Draino with 304 ss.
